CAROLINA RODRIGUEZ DE GUZMAN
The Spanish pianist Carolina Rodríguez de Guzmán studied at the “Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón“ (Zaragoza) with Iván Citera. Her musical path led her to Düsseldorf in 2010, where she worked with Prof. Boguslaw Jan Strobel. In 2014, Carolina completed the Masters degree at the Musik-Akademie Basel in the soloists’ class of Ronald Brautigam. She also deepened her knowledge of Lieder with Jan Schultsz.
Carolina’s interest in vocal repertoire grew during her studies, and led her to initiate various projects together with singers. This list includes a vocal/piano duo that she founded together with the soprano Anna Gössi, which performs a wide repertoire of Lieder in many different languages and styles. As winners of the “Internationaler Othmar Schoeck – Wettbewerb für Lied-Duo“ in 2016, they were invited to give recitals throughout Switzerland and Germany. Carolina took part in the “Cully Clasique Festival“ in 2013, where she worked together with Julius Drake, among others. Following her solo debut in Baden-Württemberg (Germany) in 2004, she performed at numerous music festivals including the “Internationale Euregio Rhein-Waal Studentenmusikfestival“ (Germany).
In addition to her solo playing and collaboration with vocalists, Carolina has a tremendous passion for chamber music. She performs in various ensembles including the “Intropia Klavierduo“ with Andrea Zamora, the “Kados Duo“ with pianist Carlos Gil-Gonzalo, and the “Duo Sonos“ with saxophonist Rahel Kohler.
Carolina lives in Basel and has taught piano at the Musikschule Unteres Worblental since 2016. She joined the faculty of the ICMS Basel in 2017.
