CÈCILE MANSUY

An artist renowned for her extremely high sensitivity, Cécile Mansuy has been passionate about studying keyboard instruments (piano, harpsichord and organ) since the age of five – indeed, she learned to read music before she learned to read words. She graduated from the conservatory in Toulouse (FR), the Schola Cantorum in Basel and the Geneva Haute Ecole de Musique (Concert Diplomas + Pedagogy) and performs in concerts across Europe as a soloist (notably on historical instruments) as well as in ensembles.
She was a prize-winner at the 2009 ‘Paola Bernardi’ Harpsichord Competition in Bologna (3rd prize) and at the 2011 ‘Van Wassenaer’ Chamber Music Competition in Amsterdam (2nd prize and the Audience Prize). She has recorded two solo CDs, both of which have been critically acclaimed and broadcast across Europe.
A multi-talented artist, she is also a photographer: inspired by Dostoevsky’s words, ‘Beauty will save the world’, she uses her senses – her hearing for music and her sight for photography – to capture beauty and share it as widely as possible. This is why teaching is a priority for her. When it comes to teaching, she is committed to understanding and supporting each person as a whole. Through a playful approach, she enjoys guiding any student who wishes to do so in using art in general, and the keyboard in particular, as a means of expression through which one can release emotions without having to rely on words. With her deep love for people and her sense of humour, she takes great pleasure in discovering the unique richness of each individual – whether they are non-typical or have a more ‘standard’ way of thinking – and in drawing on her own hypersensitivity in this process.
She actively seeks to introduce classical music to as many people as possible and, with her ensemble ‘Le je-ne-Scay-quoy’, organises concerts where she cheerfully blends early music with dance (hip-hop, salsa, etc.)!
