LUIS HOMEDES LÓPEZ

Luis Homedes López (*1994, Madrid) is a Spanish musician living in Basel (Switzerland). He aims to enable the saxophone to adapt to all styles by overcoming the limits of its relatively "short" lifespan, thus contributing to its continuous development.

He began his musical education at the age of 8 at the School of Music and Dance in Las Rozas (Madrid). In 2014, he moved to Switzerland to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Music at the Hochschule für Musik Basel, where he studied with Prof. Marcus Weiss. From 2017 to 2020, he completed a Master of Arts in Musical Performance there, followed by a specialized Master's (MA SP) in Contemporary Music from 2020 to 2022.

In September 2019, he was awarded the Rahn Kulturfonds Zurich Prize, and in the spring of 2021, he received the "Fritz-Gerber-Preis" as part of the "Lucerne Festival Academy."

Currently, he focuses primarily on pedagogy and chamber music, especially with the 2018-founded contemporary music ensemble "Dini Mueter Trio," as well as the Duo/Trio "Komorebibarock" and several projects in both Early and New Music.

In addition, he has collaborated with the Sinfonieorchester Basel, the Staatsorchester Darmstadt, the Orchestre de Chambre de Genève, and the "LFCO." For two years, he was an alto saxophonist with the Landespolizeiorchester Baden-Württemberg and also performed as a soloist with the Kammerorchester Basel.
