Latvian mezzo-soprano Marta Mieze discovered her love for singing and classical music already at a very young age. After intensive musical training at the music school in her hometown Jelgava (Latvia), she continued her professional training at the Jazeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music. In 2010, she joined the singing class of Axel Everaert at the Conservatorium Maastricht in The Netherlands.

As a soloist and choir singer, Marta has participated in various international festivals and opera projects including the Lucerne Festival, the Schleswig Holstein Music Festival, and Opera Zuid.

In 2016, she completed the choral conducting Certificate C in Church Music at the Luzern School of Music. In addition to her work as a singer, Marta is music director of several choirs in Switzerland.

Her repertoire includes works from the late Baroque era to a wide selection of romantic composers. Marta’s great love belongs to the opera genre, but notable emphasis in her artistic work lies in the Lied genre.

Marta has more than 10 years experience as a voice teacher. She has been a voice coach for choirs in Latvia, and since she moved to Basel she has given private singing lessons for young musicians.

In the summer of 2017, Marta was invited as a singing teacher to the Summer Music Camp Ja, Musik! at the ICMS, and is very excited to be joining the team in 2018.
